TULSA: Nonni’s Biscotti grew out of true Italian tradition. In the little town of Lucca, Italy along narrow cobbled lanes surrounded by elegant piazzas, our Nonni (an endearing term for Grandma) made biscotti to share with family and friends. SHAWNEE: Homesteading in the Oklahoma Land Run years, the J. Lloyd Ford family built their original log cabin in 1895. Preserved by his company, the landmark still stands today. The Mill he started in 1906 is a legacy to his insistence on quality products. He set the standards for Shawnee Mills, still operated by the third and fourth generations of Ford family millers. Despite significant growth over the years, the company has never lost track of its roots.

In addition to the millions of residents along Route 66, we are excited with the ever-increasing International popularity of America’s Highway. The original highway, established November 11, 1926 lead travelers from Chicago through Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California, ending in Santa Monica, some 2,448 miles. US Route 66 was officially decommissioned from the United States Highway System on June 27, 1985; however, portions have been designated a National Scenic Byway of the name ‘Historic Route 66’ and has begun to return to maps in this form.
There are active Route 66 Associations in all eight states and a number of foreign countries. Preservation and restoration projects are underway in many locations and new community activities and tourist attractions add more and more excitement and interest in Route 66.
